Ayr man convicted after baseball-bat attack left victim severely injured

An Ayr man has been convicted after a baseball-bat attack left another man with severe injuries and permanent impairment.

Allen McKillop was convicted at the High Court in Kilmarnock over the assault at a property in Stonecrop Place, Ayr.

The 34-year-old had originally faced a charge of attempted murder in connection with the attack on October 16, 2024. The jury instead convicted him on September 7 of repeatedly striking the victim on the head and body with the bat.

Injuries and court outcome

The attack caused severe injury, permanent disfigurement and permanent impairment, and put the victim in danger of his life.

McKillop denied the charge. He is currently a prisoner at HMP Kilmarnock.

Sentencing was adjourned until next month and will take place at the High Court in Glasgow.
