A care provider based in Ayr has been rated ‘very good’ after an unannounced inspection praised the service’s compassionate and personalised support.
Constance Care Ayrshire Housing Support Service provides housing support and care-at-home services for people across South and East Ayrshire. The Care Inspectorate inspection took place in August and examined how the organisation delivers care to people in their own homes and through housing support.
What inspectors found
Inspectors spoke with 19 people who use the service, 10 family members, and 11 members of staff and management. They also reviewed care plans, observed daily routines and collected feedback from external professionals.
The service was commended for delivering care that was “responsive, compassionate, and person-centred”. The report said care plans were regularly updated and tailored to each individual, including their health needs, personal preferences and desired outcomes.
Inspectors also praised staff for recognising changes in people’s health and wellbeing and responding promptly. The service was described as working effectively with health and social care professionals when support needs changed.
Continuity and independence highlighted
Continuity of care was identified as an important strength. People using the service benefited from consistent support provided by familiar and trusted staff, helping them maintain independence and dignity while working towards personal goals.
Leadership, workforce development and quality assurance were also highlighted positively. Staff had access to ongoing training, while managers were described as providing strong oversight of care delivery and incident reporting.
The inspector described the overall care as warm and compassionate. The report also noted that no complaints about the service had been upheld since the previous inspection.
Feedback from people using the service
One service user told inspectors: “They've made a huge difference to my health just by doing their jobs well – I give them 10 out of 10.”
A family member also praised the staff, saying: “Every one of them are great. Even the new staff take the time to get to know my mum quickly and I couldn't be happier.”
