Ayr Racecourse will be transformed into a celebration of flowers, home-grown produce and local creativity when the Ayr & District Flower Show returns on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August 2026.
The traditional two-day event will be open from 10am until 5pm on both days, giving Ayr residents and visitors the chance to see competition entries, browse stalls and enjoy live entertainment. Admission costs £7 at the gate, while accompanied children under 16 can attend free. Only assistance dogs are permitted.
What visitors can see at Ayr Racecourse
Flowers are at the centre of the show, but the programme also highlights the range of skills involved in preparing entries. Competition classes include begonias, cacti, flower arranging, fruit, handicrafts, junior entries, pansies, roses and vegetables.
Organisers say exhibitors often spend months nurturing plants and produce before presenting their entries. The displays will showcase the effort involved in producing a prize-winning bloom, impressive vegetable or carefully made craft.
Alongside the competition classes, visitors can explore garden and craft stalls, pallet gardens and flower demonstrations. Musical entertainment will also feature, offering an additional attraction for families and keen gardeners.
A long-standing community event
The show is intended to bring people together while celebrating gardening, horticulture and home-grown talent from across the area. Its organisers also hope the event will encourage younger people to take an interest in growing, making and exhibiting.
Beyond the prizes and rosettes, the flower show provides an opportunity for participants to share gardening knowledge, creative ideas and practical skills. With colourful displays, activities and plenty to browse, the Ayr & District Flower Show is set to provide a full weekend of entertainment at Ayr Racecourse.
