A man who assaulted a woman at Whiteleys Retreat in Ayrshire is back in custody after admitting the attack at Ayr Sheriff Court.
Jordan Dewar, 34, pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman to her injury. The charge was aggravated by abuse of a partner or ex-partner.
The incident happened on March 3, 2026. Dewar seized the woman by the neck, causing her to fall to the floor, before pinning her down and pushing her on the body. She was injured when she struck a radiator.
Threatening and abusive behaviour admitted
Dewar also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing.
He entered his pleas during a pre-trial first diet hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court last week. The case was continued for background reports and Dewar was returned to custody. He is an inmate at HMP Kilmarnock.
Case linked to previous conviction
The case is set to be referred to the High Court under section 16(2)(b) of the Criminal Proceedings Scotland Act. This relates to a previous conviction dated August 27, 2021.
Dewar was previously jailed at the High Court for slashing a convenience store owner with a box knife after demanding cash. He was caught after being knocked down by a moving bin lorry while fleeing the shop in Dalry, North Ayrshire, in February 2021.
The latest case remains ongoing while background reports are prepared.
