Ayr Rotary members get behind-the-scenes look at Troon RNLI station

Members of Ayr Rotary Club were given a behind-the-scenes look at the work of the RNLI during a visit to Troon RNLI Lifeboat Station.

Despite overcast skies, the group received a warm welcome from Lifeboat Operations Manager Jim Redmond, who shared an insight into the vital work carried out by the station’s dedicated volunteers.

Experience behind the scenes

Mr Redmond, a former firefighter, became Lifeboat Operations Manager in 2019. Before taking up the role, he spent more than two years at the station as Deputy Launching Authority.

In his current position, he oversees the station’s operations. The visit gave the Ayr Rotary members an opportunity to learn more about the work involved in supporting the lifeboat station and its volunteers.
