Planning for the next International Ayr Show has already begun, with Destination South Ayrshire preparing for the 2027 Festival of Flight on Ayr’s Low Green.
Jamie Tait, one of the event’s main organisers, said the work starts immediately after the festival. Destination South Ayrshire coordinates the event alongside police, fire partners, hundreds of staff and volunteers.
Traffic planning starts straight away
The show may attract thousands of visitors to the Low Green, but organisers say much of the preparation takes place away from the public view. Traffic management is a major part of the work, with the planning carried out in partnership with police and fire services.
“The planning for the next Ayr Show takes place immediately after the event.
“We work with our partners, including police and fire, and a lot of work goes into the traffic management plan.
The organiser said the Destination South Ayrshire team is central to delivering the festival, but depends on hundreds of volunteers to make the two-day event possible.

Feedback will shape 2027 event
With this year’s festival over, organisers are collecting views from people who attended, local communities and traders. That feedback will be used as part of an evaluation of the event and to consider possible attractions for 2027.
“Over the weekend we are taking lots of feedback from visitors, our communities and also our traders.
Tait described the event as rewarding for the people involved in organising it, including the planners responsible for delivering both days of the festival.
“It's a really rewarding event for the whole team and the planners who organise the whole two days.”
