Ayr United have strengthened their squad with two loan signings on transfer deadline day, bringing in midfielder Olly Whyte from Motherwell and 19-year-old striker Josh Landers from West Ham.
The additions were confirmed as Gary Naysmith continued to reshape the Ayr squad. Both players are set to go straight into the matchday squad for Ayr’s trip to Partick Thistle on Saturday.
Whyte arrives from Motherwell
Whyte joins Ayr on loan after playing a major role in Stenhousemuir’s promotion-winning campaign last season. The box-to-box midfielder will reunite with former manager Naysmith at Somerset Park.
Describing his style, Whyte said he was “energetic” and hoped to “add some goals to the team”. His arrival gives Naysmith another midfield option as Ayr prepare for their next league fixture.
Landers joins from West Ham
Landers, a former Hibs player, has signed on loan from West Ham for the season. The teenager arrives as another attacking option for The Honest Men and said he wanted to make a significant contribution during his time with the club.

The two signings will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact when Ayr travel to face Partick Thistle on Saturday. Landers said he hoped to help the team challenge for promotion, while the move gives Naysmith additional depth in both midfield and attack.
