An Ayr-based musical society has reached the shortlist for a national theatre award after its production of Made in Dagenham earned recognition at the Scottish Theatre Awards.
Ayrshire Philharmonic Opera Society, known as APOS, is in the running for the Best Ensemble – Amateur title. The society is now asking audiences and supporters to help decide the result by casting their votes.
How to vote for APOS
Supporters can vote through the Scottish Theatre Awards website. To back the Ayrshire group, voters should visit scottishtheatreawards.co.uk, select the Best Ensemble – Amateur category and choose APOS.
The shortlist follows the society’s production of Made in Dagenham, which has brought the ensemble into contention alongside other amateur theatre groups from across Scotland.
Society celebrates shortlist recognition
Announcing the news, an APOS spokesperson said the group was “absolutely delighted” to have been shortlisted, adding that the ensemble had given a great deal to the production.
“We are absolutely delighted to announce that APOS has been shortlisted for a Scottish Theatre Award!
Our Made in Dagenham ensemble gave so much to this production, and seeing them recognised in this way is absolutely fantastic.
Let's get behind our amazing APOS family and see if we can bring home that award!”
The Scottish Theatre Awards were launched this year to recognise talent, passion and dedication in Scotland’s youth and amateur theatre communities.
For APOS, the nomination places its performers and production team among those being recognised in the awards’ amateur theatre categories. The society’s appeal is now focused on securing enough public support to turn the shortlist place into a win.
