A free exhibition in Ayr will invite visitors to experience the town through sight, sound, touch, smell and taste when Blank Canvas: Finni Chambers Sensing Around opens at MAKE on Newmarket Street.
The opening event will take place on Friday 25 September 2026 from 4pm to 8pm. It will be held at MAKE, 30 Newmarket Street, Ayr, KA7 1LP, with free entry.
A collective sensory map of Ayr
Throughout September, Finni will use multisensory experimentation as a shared creative language while collaborating with local participants. The workshops are focused on exploring the neighbourhood through the five senses, using different forms of sensory experience to examine how people relate to the places around them.
The resulting exhibition will bring together the stories, creations and interactive elements developed during those workshops. The work will form a collective sensory map of Ayr and explore themes including place, wellbeing and belonging.
Visitors are invited to attend the opening, celebrate the work and experience the installation. The project is centred on sensory experiences as a way of connecting people with places through non-verbal forms of communication.

About Finni Porter Chambers
Finni Porter Chambers uses she/her pronouns and brings community, wellbeing and design together in her practice. She is the founder of Josafinni Studio, where her work focuses on spatial design that supports mental health, disability and neurodivergence.
Her design work has a particular focus on children and young people. She is also currently collaborating with VEA Dundee on a co-design project for adults with learning disabilities.
Recent projects listed in the event information include co-designing interiors for SAMH’s The Nook and working with organisations such as Sustrans and Renfrewshire Council.
Chambers advises on accessibility for Architecture Fringe and has been awarded a residency with the Royal Designers for Industry. She has also been nominated for the Scottish Design Awards 2026.
