A Royal Canadian Air Force Hercules aircraft has been confirmed for a special flypast at this year’s International Ayr Show, giving spectators in Ayr another major display to look forward to.
The Hercules CC-130J will take to the skies above Ayr as part of the airshow programme. The flypast is scheduled for Saturday, September 5.
A familiar sight around Ayr
The aircraft is already known to many people in the area because of its operations from Prestwick Airport. Its appearance at the show will bring the distinctive Canadian aircraft into the event programme above the Ayr shoreline.
The Royal Canadian Air Force uses the Hercules for search and rescue and transport operations. The aircraft has a range of more than 4,000 miles and can carry up to 128 passengers.
Aircraft built for demanding missions
As well as its passenger-carrying capacity and long range, the Hercules CC-130J can operate from unpaved airstrips. That capability allows it to undertake a wide range of missions.
For people planning to attend the International Ayr Show, the confirmed flypast is scheduled for Saturday, September 5. The aircraft’s inclusion adds an international military aviation highlight to the programme above Ayr.
