A 36-year-old South Ayrshire man has been remanded in custody after appearing at Ayr Sheriff Court in connection with a death in Dundonald that Police Scotland is treating as murder.
Alistair Steven made no plea during a brief petition hearing held in private at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday afternoon. He was committed for further examination and will return to court within the next eight days.
What happened in Dundonald
The court appearance followed an incident on Main Street in Dundonald on August 23. A 57-year-old man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where he died a short time later.
The man has been named as Graham Milliken. Police Scotland said his family had been informed. Following a post-mortem examination, officers said his death was being treated as murder.
The charge has been made against Steven, but the court report records that he made no plea at the petition hearing. He remains in custody while the case proceeds.
Police appeal for footage and information
Detective Inspector Jamie Carruth said officers were continuing enquiries in the area. Investigators are checking CCTV and speaking to local residents as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding Mr Milliken’s death.
Police are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have dash-cam or doorbell footage. They also want to speak to anyone who may have heard a disturbance in the area on the night of the incident.
Officers remain in Dundonald, and residents with information or concerns can approach them directly.
