A murder inquiry has been launched after a 57-year-old man died following an incident in Dundonald in the early hours of Sunday, August 23.
Police were called at around 4.05am to a report of an unresponsive man with injuries on Main Steet. Emergency services attended and the man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where he died a short time later.
Police Scotland said the man’s family had been informed. Following a post-mortem examination, his death was being treated as murder.
Man named after Dundonald death
The man was named as Graham Milliken.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death. He is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 25.
Police appeal for footage and witnesses
Detective Inspector Jamie Carruth said officers were working in the area to establish what happened. Their enquiries include checking CCTV and speaking with local residents.
Police are particularly seeking anyone who may have dash-cam or doorbell footage, or anyone who heard a disturbance in the area during the night.
Officers remain in Dundonald, and residents with information or concerns can approach them directly.
