Ayr United manager Gary Naysmith has promised an attack-minded team for Friday night’s televised Championship meeting with Queen’s Park, as the Honest Men look to end a run without a victory.
The match at The City Stadium will be shown live on BBC Scotland, with kick-off scheduled for 7.30pm on September 18. Ayr are seeking their first three points since the opening day of the season.
Naysmith wants Ayr to take the initiative
Naysmith said the team must focus on securing a result, while recognising that performances have included both encouraging elements and areas requiring improvement.
“We’ve got to do everything we can to win. Football is a results business.”
He added that the players need to go out and actively pursue the three points, saying a victory would be welcomed by everyone connected with the club.
“We'll pick an attack-minded team and we'll go to try and get the three points.”
Pressure at the bottom end of the table
Ayr have not won since the season’s opening day and have collected six games without another victory. They currently sit one point above Queen’s Park, who are known as The Spiders, giving Friday’s fixture added significance in the early Championship table.
The televised meeting offers Ayr the opportunity to turn Naysmith’s stated attacking intent into a first league win since the opening round of the campaign.
