Heathfield Primary School and Early Years Centre has appointed Mrs Hamilton as its new acting headteacher, bringing a familiar face back to the Ayr school nearly two decades after her teaching career began there.
Mrs Hamilton has taken on the leadership role following the temporary departure of Gaenor Hardy, who had been the school’s headteacher. The appointment places a former Heathfield probationer teacher at the centre of the school community she first joined in 2007.
A return to Heathfield
Mrs Hamilton began her teaching career at Heathfield Primary as a probationer almost 20 years ago. Her return as acting headteacher marks a significant change in responsibilities, from starting out in the profession at the school to now leading its staff, pupils and families.
She described the appointment as a privilege and said Heathfield has personal and professional importance for her.
