A new comedy horror musical will bring a chaotic wedding celebration, sinister twists and Scottish humour to Ayr’s Gaiety Theatre later this year.
Hen Night Horror, written by Fraser Boyle and Ali Cleland, will take to the Ayr stage on September 29 and 30 as part of its brand-new Scottish tour. The production follows a hen weekend in a remote Highland lodge, where feuding friends and a series of unsettling surprises turn the celebration into a nightmare.
A hen weekend takes a sinister turn
The story centres on Amanda, whose forthcoming wedding is overshadowed by arguments between her friends and a last-minute hen night. After the group arrives at the isolated lodge, they discover they are not alone and the weekend quickly takes a darker direction.
The show has been billed as a “comedy horror”, combining sharp Scottish wit, lively songs and spine-tingling moments. Organisers describe it as a night of raucous entertainment, with the new production promising to be “bigger, bolder, and bloodier” than its first outing.
New cast announced for Ayr performances
The newly announced cast includes Hannah Howie, known for Funeral for my Boobs, West End performer Matthew McKenna and Alan Orr from Two Door’s Down. Dani Heron and musical theatre performer Jennifer Neil also join the cast.

Boyle has previously written several Gaiety pantomimes, including Aladdie, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Cleland’s theatre credits include We Come to Break Your Hearts and Jamie & The Unicorn.
