Residents and visitors heading to the International Ayr Show should prepare for extensive road restrictions in Ayr, with town-centre closures beginning in the early hours of Thursday, September 3, and continuing until late on Saturday, September 5.

The closures are being introduced as the show gets under way. Some roads will have no access for unauthorised vehicles, while a larger group will have temporary restrictions but exemptions for residents.

Roads closed to unauthorised vehicles

Temporary closures with no access to unauthorised vehicles will apply to:

  • Barnes Street
  • Blackburn Drive
  • Blackburn Road
  • Cassillis Street and Corsehill Road
  • Craigie Road
  • Esplanade
  • Pavilion Road
  • Racecourse View
  • Saint Germaine en Laye
  • Smith Street
  • The Battery
  • Wellington Square North, Wellington Square South and Wellington Square West

Closures with resident exemptions

Temporary road closures, with no access at any time except for residents, will also be in place on:

Drivers should check their route before travelling into Ayr town centre during the three-day period. The restrictions mean access will vary depending on the road and whether the vehicle is authorised or the driver is a resident.
