Two men accused of carrying out an armed robbery in Maybole are due to face trial after appearing at Ayr Sheriff Court.
Jayden Mason, 21, and Daniel Logan, 43, are charged with assaulting and robbing two men and a woman while allegedly carrying a knife and an axe. The alleged incident took place on February 10, 2024, after the pair are said to have entered insecure premises in Maybole without permission.
Allegations in the indictment
The Crown alleges that one of the accused held a knife to a woman’s throat and demanded her mobile phone. It is also claimed that a man was repeatedly threatened and targeted with an axe.
The indictment further alleges repeated attempts to strike the same man on the head with a knife, followed by a blow to his body with a knife or similar object. The alleged injury is described as involving severe injury, permanent disfigurement and permanent impairment.
During the incident, the accused are alleged to have shouted, sworn and repeatedly made threats. The items allegedly taken included a set of house keys, a set of car keys, a mobile phone and a Nissan Juke vehicle.
Court hearing
Both men pleaded not guilty to the charge when the case was heard at Ayr Sheriff Court. They claim they acted in self-defence.
The case called for a further first diet hearing, while bail was continued for both accused. They were each addressed as being from Kelling Walk, Manchester.
The allegations have not been proved in court. The next procedural stage is the further first diet hearing before any trial takes place.
