Michelle Howie, Ms Great Britain Ayrshire, has described the International Ayr Show as an unforgettable celebration of local pride after joining huge crowds at the event last weekend.
The Ayrshire representative spent the day meeting members of the Armed Forces, visiting the Red Arrows and speaking with members of the public who had travelled to enjoy the show. The event attracted people from across Ayrshire and visitors from throughout Scotland.
Red Arrows display becomes standout moment
A particular highlight for Howie was the Red Arrows’ red, white and blue display. She watched the aerial performance while wearing her Ms Great Britain Ayrshire sash, representing her community beneath the formation.
“What a fantastic event. It was wonderful to see so many people from Ayrshire, as well as visitors from all over Scotland, coming together to enjoy such a brilliant show. "I’m incredibly proud of Ayrshire and what this event brings to our community. “The atmosphere was amazing and I absolutely loved meeting everyone. It’s been a wonderful day and something I’m very proud to have been part of.”
Howie said seeing the Red Arrows overhead was especially meaningful and connected the display with her role representing people in Ayrshire.
Pride in Ayrshire community
She said the day demonstrated the pride, spirit and community feeling across Ayrshire. Howie also said she was already looking forward to the airshow returning, describing her experience as a day she would never forget.
“Seeing the Red Arrows flying overhead in the red, white and blue was incredibly special. "As Miss Great Britain Ayrshire, representing my community beneath that incredible display was a moment I’ll never forget. “Days like this show just how much pride, spirit and community there is in Ayrshire. I felt incredibly proud to stand there wearing my sash and representing the people of Ayrshire. "It was a truly unforgettable day, and I’m already looking forward to seeing the airshow return.”
