A violent offender who attacked four former partners across Ayrshire over more than two decades has been jailed for 10 years.
Nathan Clark was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow after being convicted of five charges. The 39-year-old originally faced 12 allegations dating from 2000 to 2025, with the offences taking place across South and North Ayrshire.
Clark was given an extended sentence made up of seven years and 10 months in custody, followed by two years and two months on supervised release. The sentence was reduced because of his guilty pleas.
Attacks across Ayrshire
The offences involved former partners and included serious violence in a number of locations, including Ayr, Maybole, Prestwick, Troon, Irvine, Beith and Kilbirnie.
Clark admitted attacking one partner on several occasions between August 2003 and April 2004 at two addresses in Troon and elsewhere in Scotland. He seized her by the hair, pulled her to the ground and punched her on the head and body. He also threw vodka into her eyes, struck her head against a banister, kicked her dog and stopped her from leaving his home.
He admitted shouting, swearing and making threats to kill himself, as well as making threats of violence and offensive and derogatory remarks towards the woman.
Another former partner was assaulted on various occasions between January 2011 and March 2014 at addresses in South Ayrshire. Clark admitted pulling her by the hair, striking her head against a radiator and holding a knife to her neck. He also hit her with a multi-tool, locked her inside his home and seized and tattooed her arm.
On one occasion, he threw the woman down a flight of stairs while she was pregnant. He also spat on her head, kicked, punched and bit her, and compressed her neck, restricting her breathing. The court heard the assault caused injury and permanent disfigurement and put her life in danger.
Recent assaults
On February 28, 2025, Clark assaulted another former partner at North Vennel in Irvine. He pushed her, shouted and swore at her, accused her of infidelity, demanded money and took her bank card. He punched her on the head and struck her with a shoe. He was subject to two separate bail orders at the time.
He also admitted assaults against another woman during July 2025 at two addresses in Troon, a property in Beith, a property in Kilbirnie and a guesthouse in Ayr.
That woman was spat on, seized by the neck and pushed onto a bed. Clark admitted punching and striking her on the head and body, gouging her eyes and attempting to hit her with a hammer. He also punched her in the head, knocking her unconscious. He was subject to three bail orders at the time.
Clark, who was listed as an inmate at HMP Kilmarnock, was cleared of other alleged offences. These included claims involving the supply of heroin and cocaine from properties and possession of diamorphine and diazepam.
