A Prestwick man has appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court accused of making a sexual remark to a woman before allegedly shouting, swearing and banging on the door of her home.
Jason Smith, aged 37, faced two charges of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner during a brief court hearing. The allegations concern incidents said to have taken place at Shawfarm Road, Prestwick.
Alleged March incident
One charge alleges that Smith caused the woman fear and alarm by repeatedly shouting and swearing at her on March 13, 2026. The charge further alleges that he “did touch your genitals and utter a sexual remark to her”.
The source report says the woman lived in a neighbouring flat. It does not state whether the alleged contact occurred inside or outside the property.
Door and camera allegations
A separate charge relates to an alleged incident on August 19. Smith is accused of attending at and repeatedly striking the woman’s door, repeatedly demanding that she attend and refusing to leave after being told to do so.
The charge also alleges that he repeatedly shouted and swore at the woman and another woman named in the complaint, made threatening gestures and removed a doorbell camera at the address.
The report gives the second date as “August 19 this year”, without clarifying the year. The allegations have not been tested in court.
The case was continued without plea. Bail was continued, and Smith is due to face the allegations again at a later date.
