Young people across South Ayrshire are being invited to put themselves forward for recognition in this year’s South Ayrshire Youth Awards.
Nominations are open to people aged 11 to 25 who live, study or work in the area. Residents, schools, youth groups and community organisations can all nominate an individual or group.
The awards are run by South Ayrshire Council’s Thriving Communities’ Community Learning and Development service. They recognise young people whose actions support communities, help them overcome challenges or inspire others.
Eight award categories
The programme includes eight categories covering community work, personal achievement, inclusion and creativity.
- Phoenix Award: for young people who have overcome barriers and become an inspiration to others.
- Community Champion Award: for an individual or group supporting others and creating positive local change.
- Young Volunteer Awards: separate categories for volunteers aged 11 to 15 and 16 to 21.
- Youth Voice Award: for those championing children’s and young people’s voices.
- Learning and Achievement Award: recognising success through education, sport, employment, apprenticeships, arts or other activities.
- Inclusion and Diversion Award: for work tackling inequality, raising awareness of barriers and supporting minority groups.
- Arts and Entertainment Award: celebrating creativity and self-expression through the arts.
How to nominate
Nominations must be submitted by 5pm on Friday, September 18. The eligible nominee must be aged between 11 and 25, and entries can be made for individuals or groups.
The awards ceremony will be held at Ayr Town Hall on Tuesday, November 10. Nominations can be submitted online through the official nomination form.
