An Ayrshire hospitality business is celebrating after winning a major Scottish award for the way it uses social media to connect with customers.

Tempura, the restaurant and takeaway chain run by Mark Blake and Brandon Van Rensburg, picked up the Social Media Champion gong at the Scottish Bar and Pub Awards 2026.

Tempura’s Ayrshire expansion

The chain has a venue in Ayr, alongside restaurants and takeaways in Troon and Kilmarnock. Its newest opening is in Irvine, giving the business four locations across Ayrshire.

Tempura’s social media content includes videos, updates and posts covering activity across its Tempura and Spudbuds brands. The business said its online presence has involved substantial time, effort and creativity from its team.

“Absolutely delighted to have won this award. A massive thank you to all of our amazing staff and customers for your continued support.”

The spokesperson said the recognition reflected the work put into the company’s social channels, as well as the involvement of customers who like, comment, share and engage with its posts.

Tempura described the win as recognition as the best social media business in Scotland and celebrated the achievement as a milestone for the Ayrshire-based company.

Thanks to staff and customers

The chain also credited its staff and customers for helping its content reach an audience. Its posts range from humorous videos and informal banter to updates about what is happening across Tempura and Spudbuds.

The award comes as the business continues to operate across Ayrshire, with its Ayr venue forming part of a growing multi-location restaurant and takeaway chain.
