An Ayr jeweller has been recognised as the area’s Most Enterprising Business for 2026, after The Jewel Room collected the accolade at the Ayrshire Business Women awards.
The business, based at 46 Newmarket Street, was founded in 1998 and has built up 28 years of experience in jewellery craftsmanship. The award recognises the company’s commercial progress, but The Jewel Room said it also reflects its commitment to craftsmanship, resilience and preserving traditional skills.
Recognition for 28 years of craftsmanship
Reflecting on the result, a spokesperson for The Jewel Room said:
“To stand alongside such impressive fellow finalists and hear The Jewel Room announced as the winner was an incredibly emotional moment. “This award represents far more than business growth. “It recognises 28 years of craftsmanship, resilience and belief—and the future we are now creating at the Sandgate Ayr.”
The company said the recognition highlighted its focus on maintaining traditional jewellery skills while developing the business for the future.
Plans for a new jewellery house
The Jewel Room is working towards creating what it describes as Scotland’s first hospitality-led jewellery house at the Sandgate in Ayr. The plans are intended to provide opportunities for the next generation.
The business has previously received the PSYBT Best New Business Award in 2000 and the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2001.
Following the latest accolade, the team thanked Ayrshire Business Women, the judges and sponsors, along with its clients, collaborators and supporters.
